The Leading Age Annual Meeting & Expo is described as the nation’s largest annual event for the not-for-profit aging services field. Dietitians On Demand is attending this event for the first time this year, as exhibitors. Find us at booth #1753!

The Demand for Dietitians in Long Term Care

We decided to be exhibitors at this event because we feel there is no better time than right now to start growing the aging services workforce. It’s no secret that the baby boomer generation is shaping society, and will continue to do so as they age.

This leads to an increased need for post-retirement care, including assisted living, skilled nursing and long term care. The Older Americans Key Indicators of Well Being study shows baby boomers are living longer and in better health. This may mean decreased length of stay at hospitals and lower admission rates into skilled nursing facilities in recent years, but eventually, this will bring a wave of health care needs that will create an enormous stretch on society’s health and elder care services.

Dietitians On Demand is prepared to meet this need

Dietitians are in a unique position to contribute daily to the continued health and well being of these older Americans. This article from Today’s Dietitian shows that no longer do clinical conditions determine how RDs and CDMs care for individuals; instead dietitians and CDMs are asking residents what steps to take to improve their care.

This year at Leading Age we’re spreading the word that Dietitians On Demand can offer skilled nursing, assisted living, long term care facilities an option for short-term, temporary and permanent dietitian coverage.
