How to thank a registered dietitian on RDN day

I'm a dietitian, what's your super power?

Steal these ideas to show appreciation to any registered dietitian you know!

We’ve officially entered National Nutrition Month, and we’re so excited!

The campaign, created by The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, focuses on the importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating and physical activity habits.

The month also serves as a reminder to the public that registered dietitians are the most valuable and credible source for science-backed nutrition information. (Did you see this article from Women’s Health?)

Around the Dietitians On Demand office, National Nutrition Month is also a time when we try to show extra appreciation to all our consultant registered dietitians nationwide. Here’s a few ideas that you can use, too!

A hand-written thank you note

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, a hand written note is ALWAYS a winner. Here are a few cute ideas!

A dietitian-themed gift

Etsy is a goldmine for small gifts a dietitian would love. And if you haven’t checked out The Sarcastic Nutritionist… well, sadly it’s too late. They had to close shop on their dietitian-themed merch shop earlier this year.

Tell your dietitian a story

Dietitians love helping people, so if a dietitian has made a positive impact on your life, tell him or her how they made a difference!

Bring Them Food

Seriously! Dietitians love to eat. It’s a main reason they chose this career, second only to helping people. Pizza is a great choice, especially if it’s loaded with veggies. #balance

Consult Your Dietitian

The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics published a position paper last July about the role of registered dietitians educating medical students, and around that same time we started hearing from our consultant dietitians that they’d noticed an increase in consults from residents and newer physicians.

Let a registered dietitian know you value their opinion by asking for it! You never know, their recommendation may end up being a safer, better solution for the patient.

Let them inspire you

Nearly every dietitian was called to this career path for some reason or another. Ask your dietitian what inspired her/him to become a dietitian. (Psst – share your dietitian story here for a chance to be featured on our social media!)
