  • Must be registered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration

Key Requirements for Outpatient Dietitian

  • Provide personalized nutrition counseling and medical nutrition therapy in addition to practical behavior modification strategies and techniques
  • Counsel and teach patients, family, and care providers principles about the nutrition plan, supporting outpatients as needed, taking into account individual patients’ special physical or age-related issues
  • Utilize nutrition-related information systems and/or patient medical record systems to successfully document recommendations and progress
  • Ability to perform work independently with minimal training
  • At least one year of outpatient dietitian experience preferred
