Dietitians On Demand consultant wins National Staffing Award

Nonie Gandhi, MS, RD, LDN named Health Care Sector All-Star by the American Staffing Association

Alexandria, VA, Sept. 16, 2019 —The American Staffing Association today announced National Staffing Employee of the Year All-Stars in five staffing and recruiting industry sectors, including Health Care. Dietitians On Demand is thrilled to share that employee and consultant dietitian Nonie Gandhi, MS, RD, LDN is named the Health Care Sector All Star!

Not only is the award an honor for Dietitians On Demand, it’s a national nod to the importance of registered dietitians working in health care.

“It is thrilling to see that among the hundreds of thousands of temporary workers in the health care industry, the American Staffing Association choose to recognize a dietitian performing clinical duties as the Staffing All-Star for 2019-2020,” said Dietitians On Demand President, Ryan Davis. “We are proud of Nonie not only as a representative of our brand but as an ambassador of her profession.”

In the clinical setting, dietitians often struggle to earn the respect of their peers, despite undeniable evidence that nutrition intervention is a crucial component of patient care. A dietitian earning a national health care award speaks volumes to a changing of tides.

“Registered dietitians are constantly battling to increase awareness of their profession among the general public and even in the medical community,” Ryan said. “It starts with constantly having to explain the correct way to spell ‘dietitian’ and continues as we educate people that the world of nutrition services means more than just eating healthy.”

Nonie is an all-star

Nonie has worked as a travel dietitian for Dietitians On Demand for about 6 months, and in that brief time she won over corporate staff as well as clients at the sites where she worked.

“Nonie is an amazing dietitian,” said Dietitians On Demand Senior Regional Account Manager, Janella Temple, who hired Nonie for a travel dietitian position in Maryland. “The level of service she provided our clients exceeded all expectations. The announcement of these American Staffing Association All-Stars marks the beginning of National Staffing Employee Week, Sept. 16-22. This annual event celebrates the contributions of the more than 15 million temporary and contract employees hired by U.S. staffing agencies each year.

Staffing allows Gandhi to combine her love of travel with her passion for nutrition and patient care, working as a traveling dietitian through Dietitians On Demand. After college she worked abroad and volunteered at an office of Doctors Without Borders, where she learned she wanted to be involved directly in-patient care. She came home to become a registered dietitian, then signed up with her staffing agency.

When she begins a new assignment, Gandhi simply packs up her camper van and sets out from her home base of North Carolina. She is always willing to move to a different part of the country and loves the adventure of being on the road. She consistently receives high marks for her professionalism and clinical judgment, and is always willing to accommodate various scheduling requests.

Although she appreciates the flexibility of the traveling dietitian lifestyle, she also regularly accepts assignment extensions at client sites. In fact, Gandhi’s wanderlust was recently put on hold for a bit when she delayed a cross-country trip after a 30-day assignment ended up extending for 60 additional days. Through staffing, she can satisfy her sense of adventure and have a fulfilling career in health care.
