1. Search internally first

Do you have a resume database or a list of email subscribers? This should be the first place you look for a candidate. It’s usually free, and who knows, the best candidate could be right under your nose!

2. Don’t discount social media

Did you know Facebook now has the option to post jobs? You can even pay for an ad and target certain locations, job titles or profile information (for example, anyone with BA in Nutrition & Dietetics in their profile.)

3. Job boards still work

There are lots of options when it comes to job boards. Zip Recruiter, Monster, Indeed and NutritionJobs.com are all great options.

Google for Jobs is actually not a job board – it’s an enhanced search tool. There’s no way to actually post jobs on Google for Jobs. Instead, it scrapes and features job postings that are already published. (Hint: If you don’t have access to a job board, work with a dietitian staffing company that does!)

4. Encourage a referral

People are likely to refer someone most like themselves, so if you’re searching for a very specific employee, ask your current employees in that role for a referral. To entice them more, you could even offer a referral bonus!

5. Be transparent about what the job entails

Gone are they days when a generic job description will reel in the candidates you want. And plus, as an employer, who really wants to sift through tons of generic resumes that came in to a generic posting? To encourage the right applicants, includes information about who you are as a company, what your brand stands for, what employees can expect from their employer and even your core values.
